One reason I like our house is that we designed it, hired the subcontractors, watched and worked on it as it went up. We installed the outdoor cctv camera system too. We have lived in it for over 20 years and have always been happy that we decided on a “just big enough” house when so many McWhoppers were taking over the landscape. Only 1200 square feet with a basement, it has an occasionally used slope-ceiling attic where our daughter grew up. We have a full basement, half is finished and half is not. There we have a wood-burning stove that keeps our home warm on most winter days. But the very best thing about this house: a wrap around porch! It is extra living space in warm weather, a great place to enjoy a rainstorm, a perfect place to sit in the sun on a winter’s day. It shades the rest of the house and keeps it cool and adds graciousness.
